Thank you, I was able to uninstall the live Messenger, I did not know where it was I have Windows 7 and I was afraid to touch windows. You were a great help. Live messenger it is an annoying program. I know this is the long way around to do this but, after searching google when i could not find the uninstaller, this is the only other way i could find to do it.
I tried the Revo free version and it worked! After installing Revo uninstaller, I had to go to Options and select Uninstaller and check the box to show System Components. Then Windows Messenger was visible. The Uninstall process actually acted like it was installing it but then reached a point where I could select all the files 2 steps to do this and delete them.
Then it was gone! Thanks for the pointer. It asks permission then when I click on yes , nothing happens. Still nothing. Am I frustrated? Nothing happened.

I like the fact that it cleans left overs from the registry and HD after the program has uninstalled itself. Also in the tools section clicking the Autorun Icon gives you full control of what gets loaded at system start-up. And it is Free! Eventually deleted the relevant.

After deleting those it finds that files still remain mine were mainly in programs x I bit the bullet on both counts and selected all entries for deletion.
I also dumped some bloatware from my new Asus laptop using the fourth Revo option. Noticed that it boots much quicker as a minor bonus. I used Revo Uninstaller. Unlike Glynnux, I used the advanced setting and found Registry entries to delete.
I recommend it highly. Microsoft tried to get tricky in hiding windows live messenger! Who uses messenger anyway? I got rid of it following your instuctions!

So ive done everything. Ive removed all content from programs and went into my registry to remove as much windows live things that i could find …But It seems no matter how much i remove more just keeps getting found.

Thankyou soooo much, you have no idea howe thankful i am. McAfee security hiccupped over my intention to download ZapMessenger. There were a few red flags raised over possible adware etc but I went ahead trusting McAfee to do its job if needed. ZapMessenger downloaded the file to remove Windows Live Messenger in a few seconds.
I unzipped the file, it ran and in less than 5 minutes even the system tray icon was removed. I shut down and re-booted to a Messenger free screen. Thanks ZapMessenger, you did really zap it.
